Evolving Journalist

In a time of digital devices and tv stations, journalism adapts. It cannot survive in its past or current state. Print journalism is becoming obsolete, in the Western world.  (Where technology is spread and available to most.)  While in rural countries, print journalism may still sruvive.  Although often, it is not the journalism as we have come to know it.

Physical forms of journalism is changing, ethics and those behind the news is changing. ”Honest” reporting is slowly losing it’s value.  The once known ‘hard-core journalist’ were professionals.  Trained and legally responsible. This is where “transparent journalism” is spawning.  Rooted in citizen Journalist and participatory journalism, audiences no longer want the unbias neautral journalist.  Where journalist once feared to tread, citizens may go freely, publish it them selves. No legal bounds, no “professionals” need.

As stated in the articale, An Evolution in Journalism;

The introduction of transparent journalism introduces the person behind the words. The works of transparent journalists are questioned because the writers’ personal views and thus, potential biases, are called into play. If a reporter is a known to be an avid Obama supporter, should we question whether her article on McCain’s VP pick is biased? In Mayhill Fowler’s case, her questionable journalistic ethics and actions of transparent journalism acted as the catalyst for intense controversy. 

An accumulation of different views, audiences can now gain others’ strong opinionated views.  They can settle or they can question what they’ve read.   

 I think that journalist are a lot more then what we all assume.
