Venezuela’s socialist leader Hugo Chavez said on Sunday that U.S. President Barack Obama had done nothing beyond wishful thinking to earn the Nobel Peace Prize.  http://www.comcast.net/articles/news-general/20091011/NEWS-US-NOBEL-PEACE-OBAMA-CHAVEZ/

President Obama on Friday October 9Th was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. He joins American greats like Martin Luther King Jr., President Theodore Roosevelt, and President Thomas Woodrow Wilson. But does he deserve the Nobel Peace Prize? There were 200 other people and groups were in contension for the 98th Nobel Peace Prize. I don’t believe so, I think that President Obama has done allot but not enough for the honorable Nobel Peace Prize. The President hasn’t done enough after the health care talks have became none to very little after Republicans and some Democrats question the President’s plan.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgegXlOjyUM

We can’t blame Obama because Norwegian Nobel Committee ( Ågot Valle, Inger-Marie Ytterhorn, Sissel Marie Rønbeck, Kaci Kullmann Five, Thorbjørn Jagland) picked Obama over the much more deserving people. The reason for the committee to pick Obama  was for “his efforts toward World complex issues and and his stand on a world free of  nuclear world, and for what Obama Stands for in the world” said Head chairmen leader Thorbjørn Jagland during a CNN interview. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNcbdiaDYTk

Obama said in an email said ”  That is why I’ve said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won’t all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it’s recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.” Obama is also Donating  the nobel prize money (1.4 million dollars) to charity.    http://www.newmajority.com/14-million-goes-a-small-way

I believe that the committee did a good job picking a person but not a great job i think there were much better choices. Like Denis Mukwege, Sima Samar, Greg Mortenson, and Wei Jingsheng. all these stories were front runners to win the Nobel Peace Prize. My choice would of been Sima Samar, a reformer of women’s rights in Afghanistan.
