Youtube as Media
Odds are if you found this blog on the internet, you’ve discovered YouTube as well. In the 90′s people would probably think they misheard you if you were to even say “YouTube.” Then again, they would have also gone “wtf” if you said “omg lol” at something they said online. In fact, there are online dictionaries now of acronyms.
And they missed WOOT (We Own the Other Team but now used as general term for excitement) and FTW (For The Win).
Anywho, YouTube has made several people famous. Kina Grannis, Marie Digby, Amber Lee Ettinger, Esmee Denters, Jessica Rose, Brooke Brodack, Tom Dickson, Adam Bahner, Liam Kyle Sullivan, and Andy McKee have all become much more succesful with self marketing and promotion. Check out their videos
And with all the stupid people out there it’s easy to prove that ANYONE can be famous, regardless of how annoying they are. Here is a spot with all of the videos.
YouTube even had a live broadcast from California November 22, 2008. There were two mainstage cams and one backstage camera that anyone could switch between at any time, all of them streaming a live feed over the internet. Yeah, that would be fun to setup. I bet the IT guy got to retire after that…
In conclusion, self media is free money. Think about it, we all try to sell ourselves on resumes and job apps. Why not advertise ourselves to the rest of the planet and see what comes up?
Next Week’s Episode: Mike takes on the negative effects of self advertising and attempts to become even MORE adorable. Stay tuned!

Oh! I like your topic for next week. Please write about that. I’m excited to read it.
What I would love to see here is links. I’m not very familiar with the names you mention, even though I’m sure I’ve probably seen their videos. Can you link to a few? I know the school is dumb and YouTube is broken, but I can watch them from home. I also agree that self-media can be free money. Can you link to an example?
You’re right on the cusp of a really excellent blog. Toss in a few links to people can understand you exactly and you’re golden.
i think that your blog was hilarious, but when you think about it, its extreamly true. Anyone now days can be famous by postin posting things on the web (most commonly youtube) and look at how many people have gotten in trouble with the law for what they have put on youtube. like last year when the girl was beaten by her friends and one of them was stupid enough to put it on youtub, or when the cheerleaders hazed in the rookies by pushing them into the pool. its something so simple, but so popular, entertaining, risky, and possibly dangerous.
